Default Damaged Front End Need Some Advice

I rear-ended a civic the other day in stop and go traffic and my brush guard did its job and took most of the impact. The bad thing is, is that the plastic that is wrapped around the bumper in the center behind the guard blew apart from the force of the impact. The truck runs fine and I took no engine damage. My question is now that i have pulled some of that busted plastic apart, I have bare metal exposed. Do i need to cover it to protect from rust or can I leave it be and be fine? I am not going to get a new front bumper because I lack the funds to do so and I am looking for a cheap fix. Anyone have a suggestion?

Why are you not going to replace/repair it?

A cheap solution would be to grab a couple cans of black Rustoleum and paint the exposed metal if you're worried about it rusting.

Mike I'm not going to pay for it because the truck as of right now is valued at about 6k. I'm about to go to college and leave it behind so I do not see it as a sound investment to pay another grande to have a bumper put in.
