Front End Advice !!!
All I have a 96 D1 with 212000 miles on it. It is time to sink some money in the front End. The other day on my way home from Niantic Ct when I parked to get some food the CV Joint was clicking. So I a pretty sure I need at least one going to go ahead and replace both. and the front-end shakes like mad when hitting a bump and its low on PS fluid. I am also at least planning on new shocks and a steering damper
So question 1.
If I am planning on doing the CV joint what else should I replace while it is all apart? Please be pretty exact.
question 2
I know it is a D1 and I have read all about the front U-Joint on a D2 but does it apply to a D1?
question 3 my Power steering has leaked since the day I got it had one hose replaced the other started leaking. So is there a good PS pump rebuild kit or should I just but a new PS pump. I am not sure that one is bad but sure it has ran out of fluid a few time and when at slow speeds it is pretty hard to turn.
I am also going to get to a lot of the things on the on Disco Mikes 60,000 mile list.
Thanks for any advice

How often are you changing the oil and what oil are you using?
DO NOT do the ATF engine flush, I cannot stress this enough.
You could potentially need new steering components. If you have the cash, and plan to keep the vehicle a while, I'd consider doing a whole front end rebuild with all new steering components (drag link, tie rod ends, drag link bushing, swivel pins, etc). I'd look for a decent used power steering pump (make sure your suction hose is clamped tight). Then, you have to consider if your steering gear is good (if so, you might do that later as it would be expensive). All this would cost a pretty penny, but afterwards it would steer and drive like new. Unless some of these parts were previously replaced, it's hard to imagine that they wouldn't be worn at your mileage. I think Roverparts.com has a sale on some of these parts. You could also try northern auto parts.com which has good prices on aftermarket (MOOG/TRW, ETC) parts. They might be a lot cheaper than roverparts. I've ordered a lot of parts from them over the years. I'd suggest calling them up for pricing and a catalog (if you want). Good luck.
