Dash Switch?
I am about to wire some aux. lights on my brush guard and I noticed a blank location for a switch on my dash. It's a Disco I and below the clock I have the "cruise master switch" and the factory "fog lights". There is a third location for a switch which is blank as if I didn't have that option. I checked the manual and it makes no mention of what is supposed to be there. Does anyone know?
Here you go...

Click on the link and then scroll about two-thirds of the way down the page and you'll find exactly what you're looking for. (I think) Plus, it's inexpensive!

If I understand correctly this is what you're going for. I ordered the auxiliary light switch from Atlantic British and used it for my Hella driving lights on my brush bar. There is a switch blank next to your factory fog light switch right now. Pop that out and put the switch in it's place then wire it up. I used the plug from my radio band select switch up by the instrument panel to wire mine so it was a simple plug into the switch once I had all the wires connected. I also connected to the dash illumination wire for the switch and dropped the wire down to where the new switch was going so it would light up like the other switches. You can also just tap the illumination wire (pin 2) from one the other switches next to it.
I think I'm going to order that switch carrier from Expedition Exchange for the other side of my dash (where the ash tray is currently) to use for my overhead lights and rear work lights, when I install them.

I looked at that today and it looks really nice. I have an aftermarket radio so I could use the radio switch easily like you did. When I eventually get a roof rack and lights on there then the ashtray is a perfect place for the addition switches. I love how everything is interchangeable because of left hand drive compatibility.
I don't think so but I don't know for certain. I believe the D2 switches around the instrument cluster are a little different from the D1. I honestly haven't looked close enough at a D2 to know for sure. I think I'll have to find a used car lot that has a D2 and do some investigating. It's hard to tell from the pictures.
When you wire your switch make sure you get the wiring right or you'll blow fuses and light bulbs in the switches like I did.
The correct pin out
Pin 1 - 12 volt power - mine comes from the high beams so my driving lights operate with the high beams but any 12 volt source will do.
Pin 2 - Dash illumination
Pin 3 - Not Used
Pin 4 - Output to light relay
Pin 5 - Ground
