Default Death smoke?

Ok guys this is what I got, I purchased a 2000 series II with a supposedly had a cracked block, got a used motor from a friend out of a wreck with 115k miles. The shop that diagnosed the cracked block also supposedly resurfaced the heads and did a valve job which looked to be done, I decide to change the head gaskets since the motor was out and since the heads were suppose to be "fresh" I decide to reuse them instead of the ones on the new engine.
I finally got a chance to fire it up tonight, as soon as it started it was running a little ruff and white smoke was coming out of the exhaust pipe. The smoke went away after about 10 minutes of run time and it seemed to start running smoothly, the temp hand went up about half way and stopped there. I am not a car mechanic but this seemed a little unuasal to me ,is this normal, should I be alarmed? Is or possible that the smoke came from when the block cracked and maybe water ran into the exhaust? Possibly the old heads that I reused were cracked? I sure hope that is not the dreaded "Death Smoke" !! Thanks,CW.

Dont worry about it, it is water/oil/residue from the work you did burning out of the cylinders.

Perfectly normal after all the work done on it. Do you know how to bleed the air from the coolant system, did you use Dexcool and where is your bleed screw located, in the upper radiator or in the black plastic tee?

Thanks for the info guys, that's what I was hoping that it was.
The LR had green in radiator and the engine had Dexcool on it, so I filled the cooling system with straight water to flush it out but I have a couple gallons of Dexcool to go in it after I drain it this afternoon.
I have a plug on the plastic "tee" on the upper radiator hose I'm which I removed when I was filling the system and then again after I ran it for a while.

Update, let the LR run for a while and no more smoke coming from the exhaust . Everything seems to be ok except for idling issues, it cranks and is hard to keep running until it warms up which is about when the temp hand is half way on the gauge which afterwards it runs very smoothly. I am going to start a new thread on this topic.thanks again,CW.
