Default Defender 110 LT230 1.667

Hi all

I have a line on a LT230 with 1.667 gears from a Defender 110, he is asking $175CDN.
My question is, are all the mounts the same as in a discovery 2, I know i will have to rig up a Hi/Low detect switch. I would like to find a t-case from a 2000 but they are hard to find in my area ( cheapest I have found is about $350).
the 1.667 gears sound kinda nice ( I will be putting on some 32'' sneakers).
Are there any disadvantages to this gearing other that top end speed being affected?

Thanks.

I've got that case in my defender. Go to ashcroft's website and run it through their calculator. You might be stuck going about 60mph. 55 is all I really push my 2.5na diesel. You might be able to get more from a V8, though I'm not sure how the zf auto is geared compared to my lt77 5 speed.

Boy, you would have a lot of low end torque, but they are a pretty noisy t/case. I have a friend, mechanic, who has one in hie D1 and you can hear him coming down the trail.

Ya my dad had a 73 III 88 and you had to wear ear plugs when driving on the hwy. But it was the only truck I have ever seen idle up a 35 degree hill in reverse lol . I am starting to think I should get a newer D1 before my 02 looses all its good road manners. SWMBO seems to think its an alright idea too.

Strange, I cannot hear my transfer case over the ridiculously loud engine.
