Deleting SAI by replacing heads
I've read about a few people successfully deleting SAI by plugging the ports in the heads. My understanding of that process is that you can no longer pass emissions in, for example, California. What if you fully delete SAI by getting non-SAI heads and a non-SAI ECU?
I plan to move to California in a couple of months, so this is a big factor. I'll need to register the car at some point. How will this work?
For those wondering, I'm considering Turner Engineering's long block. They don't sell SAI heads. Additionally, it would give me great pleasure in gutting all of that tubing.

I agree. I live in CA and my D2 barely passes smog. And it's a California car with secondary air, stock exhaust, and all the other emissions stuff.
To pass smog in Cali, all factory emissions systems must be in place and functioning properly. Removing your SAI, even if you replace with other factory parts, will automatically fail you.
I had a 2003 non secondary air D2 that originally came from Texas but was registered in CA when I bought it. It passed smog no problem.
I think the stickers on the front support were different than an SAI car, thats why no red flags when going for smog, but I am not sure.
I would agree with the above posters and keep the SAI.
