All the more reason for me to buy a Nanocom. Can I get you to write a note to The Minister of Finance?

What ever happened I'm having same issue except I got mine started and drove 3miles with no battery light or alternator trouble then died.. Now cranks like a champ but no ignition. I'm in Cincinnati Ohio and I would appreciate and pay any members for assistance. Cincinnati is full of dummy crook mechanics I wouldn't trust with a bicycle non the less my Land Rover. Only thing I did was change my drive shaft and drove a total of 51miles and this happened please help asap

Your issue sounds like a classic case of a failed Crankshaft position sensor. It's a fairly cheap part but it's hard to reach up and get to the plug. I think you can confirm a dead Crank sensor by hooking up a scanner and if the RPM's read "0" when you are cranking, it's a dead sensor. Sometimes the truck will start back up for a few minutes after it has cooled off but it will die soon and not start again.

If you are sure your battery is good then I would highly suspect the crank sensor. It's very common for them to fail and I think just about everyone on here has replaced one at some point in time.

Autozone has a bosch sensor for $65- http://www.autozone.com/engine-manag...hv/544265_0_0/

I was told recently that the obd2 port is dead while cranking. I don't have a D2 anymore to confirm or deny. Someone with an ultragauge or other scanner should try it and see what happens. Also maybe looking at the tach while cranking?

Just read through the whole thread before finding out it was hi-jacked thread.
I need closure! SDot — what happened in the end? Is it running now? Did you have it shot? Is it laying somewhere at the bottom of the Scarborough bluffs?
Closure!

Oh. Sdot's last post is '99 Disco 2 for sale.

Thought I'd finally found another Toronto member.
