Default DI going for a paint job... need some answers...

Hello fellas,

I'm helping a DI owner with some various body work and need YOUR help.

1. The body shop will be removing the windshield to fix some rust at the top caused by a previous dealer repair from years ago.

QUESTION: The three windshield finisher strips that surrounds the edge of the glass are in good shape except of course the top one. .... can they be RE-USED when re-installling the glass? Or do they get ruined during removal? We plan on replacing the top strip for sure with a new one but the whole set is about $250 from AB.

2. Where can I find DI roof gutter trim and i know AB lists only the trim for the DII.

usually you can reseal the trim if you have too. If its not rusted out, They are notorious for leaking in all of those places.

And trust me the dealer didn't do it, Rover did.

oh and dont forget the wings, they leak inside the vehicle as well. look under the wheel well and the sides of the dashboard leak around there.

Cool

if it's any help , I got a quote from a dealer for the DI roof gutter trim a couple of weeks ago and it was only ~~$25.00 per side for the long pieces (down each side).

Also....I was planning to have MY windshield done soon and the local glass shop said that they wouldn't reuse the windshield trim at all 'cuz they've had such bad luck on the re-install....but they quoted me $500. for windshield & trim....

I would suggest replacing it. It is old and not a plyable as it once was and may not reinstall correctly causing a leak. If it does then you will have to pay additional to have it replaced.
