DI radiator in a DII?
I am going to start the process of upgrading my cooling system in my 2004 DII. I would like to have a 3 row radiator which I know is possible with the old DI radiators when recoring them. I realize I would likely have to change the radiator support brackets, but is there any other issues such as where the hoses connect being in different locations, etc which would make this impossible?
I have a new heater core(going to have the dash out for some other mods so going to replace since I will have access anyways), new hoses, 180 thermostat and Saudi grill to install. Also going to convert to the chevy clutch and relocate the t-stat closer to the block. I use the rig to pull trailers some times and I want to have as much cooling power as I can get. Thanks for any help

Tranny oil lines move and upgrade. Oil cooler would be available. Rad is thicker, so spacing would have to be measured. D1 rad would be expensive if new, needing rod out / boil out if used, and could be an aluminum one if eBay ($235 for a new one). Could also go with external tranny cooler setup, and some other sort of rad. Junkyard is full of samples, just make measurements. One you are down to just coolant, it would become an easier project. Or some of those swanky ones from Summit Racing.
Also you have some temps sensors on the rad to deal with.
I once had a 225 cubic inch pickup. Put in a rad from a 400 cubic inch. Odd ball hose (different sizes on each end). Never had over heat problems, but in winter it took a looooong time to get warmed up.
