All I can say vandev is get your A$$ in gear on that stinking '04 DII you got just laying around soaking up your money and time so you can get to work making a real truck (ie a DI) even better LOL. I am ready to see this done by someone on here who will report back and will give us a really good run down on numbers. To many on here are interested in this. And when you get ready do a write up like the project that is going on in the DI section. Weekly updates with pics. I am all over his project like stink on....well you know a LR lol.

Yeah I would definitely subscribe to the build thread...if started it would bring mega traffic to these forums as well.
What about a Cummins 4bt from a delivery truck with all accessories ($1500+-) ? Or is it too much of an electrical nightmare?

but what I'm wondering is there a lift made that can handle it..HD springs can take the weight of a heavy bumper and winch or a 4bt but can they hold up to all 3?

You guys are missing the point
You guys are missing the point..
KISS Keep it simple and stupid
A DI with a "non computer TDI 300 and auto gearbox is about as drop in as you can get. All the other options are ecu , pressureized fuel systems, fabricating and electrical nightmares. Wher talking motor mount install and the rest is about 1 wire.....
If i wanted to go expensive 10k on up rout , i would get the hole front clip of a 2004 DII, and ship it here as well as the fuel tank and fuel system, computer...ECU...and instrument cluster... Alot of work but much more strait forward...
keep it simple....
