Quick question... why is this sold when the RAVE specs a fluid-applied gasket? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious. New diff coming this week.

Just makes it a little easier/less messy for someone who doesnt wanna do silicon. Lots of oil pans, diffs, trans pans, etc are specced for one or the other and later on get swapped. No harm, no foul
