differential removal
It sometimes, not always, pays to remove the shaft as it may be in good/better condition inboard side and mates together better with the diff. It also maybe worthwhile keeping the shafts and hubs as spares if offroading a lot. Shafts can break easily due to stresses and diff wind up.
FWIW, on my project build here at L8, Ive been running stock axles and stock diffs for over a year to see how well they will hold up. Running 33's and so far I've only blown up a rear diff. Axles have held up great.
