Default DII cdl ?

as my rave manual is in my fragged computer i am trying to figure out my cdl lever issue. does the DII X-case have a solenoid for high/low? it works easily from high unlocked to locked but will not for the life of me move into low range. was working intermittently then hardly. now not at all. gotta figure a solenoid gave out or something of the sort. everything is well lubed and with only 61k miles and very clean linkage and x-case i know its not rusted together.

if so where am i looking for a solenoid?

Yes, this is a common issue. Look at the attached picture, see the dome shaped plate, held down by 4 bolts, the solenoid in under there and easy to remove and either replace or throw away.

i got bored and started searching threads mike. i noticed you mentioned that you were able to reach yours from beneath the truck. where am i reaching up through? the front or rear of the case? which side allows better access? and what size are the bolts and what is the best wrench or socket to get to it?

Can't remember the bolt size. We got to mine from the passenger rear side, kind of depends on how your elbow bends, some go thru the console to reach the solenoid.

go thru the console. will save you time and hassle in the long run. and after you drill those rivets out of your console use sheet metal screws to put it back together. will save you next time you need to get in there.
