That is a good support. You also have to think if there is a 1.5x3" box steel being used along the bottom of the sill. The load of the truck is being distributed along the beam on the sill. It would have to be a seriouly hard impact to crush the sill with that 1.5x3 welded to the U section where they bolt. My sliders are made my Bottorf and are one of the nicer pieces of protection I have. I might add that support now that I know how to weld. But seems it might also bend the frame easily from a side impact auto accident.
Get it rolled, or roll it yourself with a harbor freight roller. It'll just take a few hours to get it to roll that thick of steel though if you do it by yourself.
I here to revive this thread. I just made the sliders from the above plan. I still need to paint them but they came out well enough. I am not a great welder but they will hold.

Now, does anyone have nice bumper plans? I have a what looks like a Bearmach winch bumper I was thinking of hacking and modifying to look more like new styles that are out for the large trucks.
After having bent my RTE ones a few times on the driver front side and now finally having a half decent welder I'm kicking the idea around making some that weld in. With the idea they'd be stronger. Our frame rails are super narrow compared to older 4 runners for instance where welded sliders are much more common. I did see a guy on Instagram that had built a set that looked super beefy that I need to reach out and see about any more info on them.
