I had someone in an older Jeep Cherokee pull out in front of me today. I nearly T-boned them, had to slam on the brakes and could hear the tires squeal a little bit. Rovers are so rigid, I can only imagine what it would have done if I didn't react in time. Especially the RR with its brush guard. The frame and bumpers are so chunky and heavy on these things. And even though they are monsters, they do stop well and are nimble enough in most cases to avoid an accident all together.

Glad to hear you are ok! The people in the Z3 are very luck!

I am glad you are ok, but our Discoverys are certainly not the safest vehicles, in crashes they are out right dangerous. See this crash test:

I agree with your post but I wonder if there is a difference between the D1 and the D2. Remember the D1 was designed in 1989 I believe.

I know that the DII (and maybe the latest D1's) got better side impact.

EDIT: looks like it fares slightly better than the D1:

I'd like to see how my truck with the full ARB bar would fair in a crash like that. With the bar pushing directly onto both chassis rails I'm interested in seeing it contact another vehicle in super slow motion.

x2 I suspect the outcome would be significantly different...

(Both would still end up totaled, but the D2 would probably hold up much better than the stock D1 in the test.)

I dont have the pic anymore, but there was a guy on here with a DI a year or so ago who was t-boned by a SEMI at 30mph in the drivers side.
He walked away, truck was totaled, but he walked away with a few cuts and bruises.
