Hello,
My husband changed the transmission filter on our 1999 Discovery II, and after a bit of trial and error got the fluid level back up to where it needed to be. It seems to work fine, but the service engine light appeared. He hooked it to a computer and the code reads PO741. Is there something he still needs to do? I want to drive it, as it appears to be working fine, but don't want to cause an unknown problem... thanks in advance for ideas!

How much ATF did he end up adding back after draining? Assuming he did a drain and refill. You usually get about 5 quarts out and 5 back in but you have to be in gear while adding to get that much back in. King of scary to be under the truck with it in gear even with the e brake on and someone holding the brake. you can also just run through the gears and go back and top off, do that a few times and get really close.

Thank you for your reply. He did get 5 quarts in, but didn't do it in gear (in park). He put the fluid in the port above the transmission pan at the base of the bell housing with the vehicle first on a hoist, and again jacked up. Cleared the code and it has not come back, but it still seemed to shift slow in lower gears.
