Default Disco 1 wiper arm conversion problem

I recently installed the disco 1 wiper arm kit from roverparts.com. everything went on smooth and without problem. Today I purchased bosch icon blades to replace the ones that came with the kit because from the beginning they were streaky and had bad contact. Now with the bosch blades there is still not much contact with the windshield. It is not as streaky but there are large areas on both blades where it does not wipe. I tried reinstalling the arms but no change. any ideas?

I have had the same issue with the Bosch Icons blades. The design of the Icons does not provide consistent pressure through the entire length of the blade. I ended up using the generic (and relatively cheaper) wiper blades with multiple spring contacts for more consistent pressure across the length of the blade.

Older wiper arms can sometimes have pressure issues, consider that that only thing providing tension is the arm spring. I've found that you can swing the arm open, as if to install a new blade, and then bend the arm LIGHTLY in your hands in order to tighten that spring up.

He said he bought arms from roverparts.com, so I'm assuming they are new.

So I recently did same thing. Tried 21, 20,18" blades in icon and evolution . Each had a spot almost directly under attachment that didn't contact. They were size of hand to football sized. It wasn't always both wipers but at least one. They wiped well everywhere else great. Tried calling Bosch tech didn't get much help ended up with a standard frame wiper blade that works. I was on vacation so got the cheaply ones since I wouldn't be able to return them once I left. Once these ones go I'll try again because they are nice blades. Have heard of others using them on hear and have them on the other car do not sure what gives.

Good luck.

Do these new fangled wipers like the Bosch Icons do a better job? I've been thinking about changing all of my wiper blades. Problem in France is during the summer where the blades suffer from 'heat stroke' and the rubber persishes even with the LR OEM's so often it's not worth spending too much on wiper blades. For getting sufficient pressure I fit blade spoilers which helps a lot. Normally they only come new with a spoiler on the driver's side blade but I keep the old spoilers for the passenger side. I recycle the old blades onto the Pajero as it sees more muck and grit regularly.

You can buy new springs for the wiper arms (Trico, I think) which are good but a PITA to fit. TIP: wear leather gloves when fitting them 'cos they bite ya

There are other springs available in the US on Ebay.
