Default Disco 2 Automatic - Gearbox wont go into P & R

Hi,
I got my Disco a couple of months ago and it had been standing for about 1-2 years. (1999 Discovery 2, 4,0L V8, Automatic)
I finally got the engine running after exchanging the fuel pump, some sensors like MAF, CPS etc.
Cleaned the BCU and the XYZ-switch and everything seems to be visually be ok.

Now, I got the motor running and can get it into Drive and drove for a short bit.
But I cannot get the gears into Park, Reverse or 1,2,3.
I can get it to stay in Neutral.
The dash shows the right position of the gear lever and the red lights on the side shows the right position.
I also noticed that the "high" and "low" gears has switched places.

Any one to understand the symptoms?
Is it the XYZ-switch that need to be adjusted?
Or is the EAT box failing?
Or the BCU?
Or could it be as easy as the oil level in the gear box is low?

Please, all advices are welcome!!

there is an adjustment tool for setting the XYZ switch (although you may be able to ballpark it without the tool). I would start here, assuming that you already checked all fluid levels (the trans is a bit different than other fluid levels). But, I don't know what you meant by 'cleaned it.(the XYZ and BCU)' Did you take the XYZ or BCU apart? XYZ has some sensitive micro switches inside. The tool for setting XYZ position is described in RAVE transmission repair manual. Download it and it will be of great use to you.

just to be clear, the XYZ is mounted to the side of the transmission, it is not the gearshift lever......
