Disco 2: Fender skirts
The black plastic fender skirts around all fender welds...I thought when I got this Disco that the previous owner had used some kind of adhesive or decal or something on them; because they were smooth in places and then rough as 60 grit sand paper in other places.
I started looking at pictures of other Discos and it seems like many of them have this issue. Is this just a breakdown of the ABS plastic in the sun over time?
I plan on using some 80 to 4000 wet sand paper on mine to smooth them out; likely spray them with plastic-coat or something.

Happens to every disco I've seen. Sand them down and paint them.
tip: if you dont want to mess with taking them off you can use index cards or something similar to stick behind them and the body to avoid overspray.

Some owners remove them entirely, but I've read the adhesive can be very difficult to remove from the paint. I recall reading here that there's an attachment for an electric drill that makes removing the adhesive easier. You ought to be able to find those threads with a search.

The playing cards have a coating on them that keeps the paint from soaking through unlike the index cards.
