Default Disco 2 --front abs abrasion/cutting wire

disco2

my left front abs wire is constantly being cut/worn through and losing signal causing abs light on dash.

when i took wire out, i found that the abrasion between the wire and wheel hug rear is causing this issue.

really having a hard time figuring out how to prevent this...the wire snakes though the rear of hub and has one bolt for the abs sensor.
anybody have this problem? i cant put too much shielding on the wire bc it becomes too fat to go through hub space, and i cant reroute it either.

Do you have the blue metal clip which holds the wire out of the way?

Yes. you are exactly right, i dont know if my piece is still there or rusted out, i couldnt see behind the wheel at all. i found pictures at this site and in one pic they show the top rear bolt goes through the blue bracket and holds the abs sensor...
www.discovery2.co.uk / Front Wheel Hub / Bearing Assy

This is exactly my problem, i dont think my wire was held in place by bracket, so after 500 miles or so i would trigger abs and and i find my abs wire was chafed through.

My thinking is that i dont have that piece bracket anymore and rusted out.
That was reason i got the light abs in the first place.
anyone has a spare bracket lmk im looking for it

there is nothing you can strap or hold unto back there. i might have to fab something from metal to get it to hold the wire.

i do know that if you dont have this achored or strapped it will chafe and eventually you will get an ABS light.

im now on my 3rd new wire. its really hard to see behind the hub , im going back in over next several days and ill post a followup.

Yep I've worked on plenty of D2's that people have "attempted" to fix their 3 Amigo's and in doing so they lost those blue tabs on both sides. Then I got a hold of it to fix it and found them missing. I grabbed a few from a wrecking yard, and was good to go. Without them yes the ABS wire will eventually get a nick in it and fail.

update i opened up my front left where i had previously had a chaffed abs sensor wire and interestingly (1) the blue tab was worn off ie rusted off, so there is no longer a tab for wire...i did zipt tie around hub top to hold it...

the bad news is that wire was not my problem, i get a constant abs light and red brake light. already done amigo option b etc.

abs codes are Current Faults---->

Active Faults:

None

Logged Faults:

074:Rear Right in valve short to supply

Front Left Sensor Bad Output

<-END Faults
