Disco 2004 90K: Failed flex Plate and transmission questions, with pictures
Help, I had a severe ATF fluid leak that I initially attributed to failure of the front seal in the transmission. I have pulled the transmission and have the following questions:
1. Flex plate, why did my flex plate fail - see picture

2 On the input shaft, which I think is the splined shaft shown coming out of the transmission in the following picture, the axial end-float should measure 0.2 to 0.4 mm(0.008 to 0.016 in.).

Have I understood the manual in that the axial end float is measured fore to aft, from the torque converter towards the transfer case?
3. What should my radial run-out be on the same shaft, see picture:

4. Should the splined shaft indicated by the red arrow turn, and if so how easily, see picture:

5. How easily should the ATF pump turn?

I'm dreading that flex plate as I feel mine is on its way out. There is a vibration (shock) in the drive train translating into the entire body. New u-joints, front shaft, rotoflex coupler... still there. Only thing left I can think of is that damn plate.
