Disco Front Diff Core - Is it Sellable for Rebuild?
I just replaced the front diff assembly (Third Member) on my Disco I. The pinion bearing had disintegrated so it had to go. The casting and internal gears seem to still be in good condition.
I am guessing there are many outfits that would buy this diff core and rebuild it into a reconditioned front diff assembly. I am going to contact RoverLandParts to see if they buy back cores.
Any suggestions on who else whould be interested in doing this?

Mike,
So you finished the job, how did it go, is your truck happy now?
As for yur old 3rd. member, why not install a new pinion bearing and sell it?

Hey Mike!
I have officially bonded with my Disco I. I feel like its mine now that I have healed a major ailment.
The pinion bearing had let go completely. I had to dig 5 roller bearings and multiple chewed up metal shards from the bottom of the axle casting. I cleaned the inside of that casting for 20 minutes in an effort to remove as many metal shavings as possible. I plan to replace the gear oil in a week or so to flush out those little shavings that were hiding in the crevices.
She drives much smoother now. Time to find some offroad action now!
Concerning rebuilding the third member...The pinion gear has some significant dings on some of the teeth from chewing up the bearing fragments. I assume I would have to replace the main pinion and the bearing during this rebuild. Also, not sure that I am patient enough to follow the meticulous setup instructions...
If I could sell the core that would be my easy way out...However, I might tackle the rebuild just to say I have done it...
