Default to rebuild or not to rebuild

Well 400 miles after my head gasket job I noticed that if you push the front driveshaft you can see play in where it connects to the transfer case. So I'm assuming something has come loose causing the output shaft to move about.

What's the best course of action here?

Chula Vista - bring your own tools to the big boneyard. Most Rovers in the yards from overheating....

Mostly just D1's down there. I use to go every weekend.

But let's say I find one. Pull the t-case, then rebuild that or??

Odds are in your favor that it will just be a plain used case and in good order. Or just nab a cover plate and make a set up to manipulate yours.

You can use a D1 transfer case. Just use the front output flange from yours.
