Default Disco II td5 overheating no idea

Long story but wondering if anyone can help me I bought a td5 about a year ago and planned to drive it from Sydney to Toowoomba around 8-10hrs and 2hrs into it she overheats, dealership reckon they fixed it but whatever. Got it shipped up and drove it around town til it overheated after about an hour drive, after that I replaced water pump and thermostat. Didn't drive it long distances for awhile maybe 5 months. Eventually bottom hose swelled and top hose split so replaced all those. Have had it pressure tested and it was fine, hasn't leaked at all but it still overheats when I take it on long drives say like around an hour to 2hrs, when it overheats it goes up pretty quickly I pull over fan still runs and I give it 10-15 and then drive again and it's good for the rest of the 40 minutes or so what could this be? Love this rig and don't wanna get rid of it.

Welcome to the forum.
I hope I don't run you away but not many Disco 2 Td5 owners on this forum.

I'd suggest a forum in the UK or Australia. The Australian Land Rover Owners - AULRO.com is a great forum with lots of helpful people.

What year? Do you have any white smoke coming from exhaust? I'd have an experienced mechanic check the cooling system for exhaust gases, easy test that can be completed in minutes...and it eliminates a lot of guess work. Being a td5, which they started using in 98/99, it's possible you have a coolant flow issues. The radiator could be partially plugged with sediment, especially if the coolant system has been neglected, lack of anti-freeze changes, or the vehicle sits more than it is driven.

Try a Defender board too same engine in most of those, odd are it heads or head gasket with that much over pressure
