Question Disco II wiper issues

I have a 2002 Disco that has some wiper issues I have not seen addressed on any other threads. The wipers work fine on low and high but when on intermittent the wipers go up and stay all the way up at the top of the swipe. Is this switch related or motor related? I have seen some people suggest tightening the switch connections in the steering column as well as the arms themselves on the windshield. Those seem like easier, less expensive, fixes which of course appeal to me. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Gabe

Its the switch.
If it was loose wiper arm nuts they would act up all the time.
The DI and the DII use the same switch so you can search for a used one.

Thanks for the reply! Is there a step-by-step walk through on the forum for this fix? The switch seems to be available for $50-$75 depending on which site it is, which I am happy to pay for properly working wipers. Also, is this a repair that a Disco newbie (2 weeks in) could tackle or is it better left to a garage?

Down load a free copy of the Rave CD and follow the directions.

Thanks Mike! I have the manual and will check it out. I'm hopeful that this is in my skill set!

Yes it is easy, remove the steering column cover.
Turn the steering wheel so that the bottom of it is vertical and facing to the right (passenger side)
Remove key so steering wheels locks in that position.
Remove the 2 screws that hold the switch in place.
Remove switch.
The RAVE wants you to remove the steering wheel, no need for that.
Headlight switch is the same way.

Hello
I replaced the switch and you guys were right, it WAS easy!!! The downside to this is that I got the switch at a local salvage yard hoping that it was in good working order. I paid $9 for the switch and when I got it home and replaced the failing one I came to find out that the Disco that I plundered had the same wiper issue! So, I will be ordering the new one from Rover Land Parts for $49 and putting that one in. The plus side to this is that I gained some confidence in working on my truck and I got to tear apart the steering column on the donor car which was a good learning experience. Thanks for the help as always.
Cheers,
Gabe

Most things on these trucks are pretty easy to DIY repair.
