Not sure if l've ever read one of his posts or not.

As far as giving advice around here goes...l've pulled back on doing so. Been a mechanic for forty some years and know these rovers fairly well, but not an expert by no means, but always tried to help where l could or offer advice based on solid information or knowledge l've obtained. However, after a few posts from members here...l've found that l have less desire to get involved in discussions. With that being said...maybe this Mike guy just hung around too long, possibly because of his love for rovers and helping others...but this eventually affected his attitude towards some and maybe came off rude?

As far as the "call me" issue...l can kind of understand that...some folks can explain repairs more easily word of mouth. Believe me, l don't enjoy typing out lengthy repair processes...especially...when it's a question that's been asked a thousand times...or worse yet...the poster wants to argue about the advice. And yeah, it would have been nice if they came back with the repair...but that would fall on the original posters shoulders, in my opinion.

Hope Mike is alive and well.

... I thought you'd been a little quieter lately, Brian. I, for one, have always appreciated your advice and banter. It's nice to be part of a like-minded community, even if I'm not a hard core 'do everything myself' woman. Hopefully I wasn't one of the forum members that led to your retreat.

As for Disco Mike. He was around a lot when I first joined in 2011. Lots of knowledge but he scared me off a bit... I hope he's doing well.

I liked DiscoMIke. There is another senior member missing, too. I think he gave it up

There are a lot of senior members missing.

Some moved on from Land Rovers. Some went to Dweb. Some just don't have the time to invest in the forum anymore.

I still get emails from all the treads I participated in. Alot of funny responses. Some "interesting" ones too.

I still have my Rover. She still leaks oil, the frame is still rusting and I'm still getting 12 mpg while rolling down a hill in Neutral, but I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon.

Disco Mike was also one of those polarizing characters. Alot of people hated him. Alot of those people aren't here anymore. Some people really liked him. I've gotten into my fair share of arguments with him and was banned. But it's 2021. Wherever he is, despite my disagreements with him, I hope he's doing well.

Also, anyone who where I can get 1:1 front and rear gears for the diffs? I have an idea for a Tesla Swap? 😂

I'm pretty shure he posted his phone number frequently to help people offline (resulting is the several hundred dead end threads.)

Maybe you could search that out.

i had no direct online or personal interaction with DiscoMike.

however, from all the reading i have done both here and on anther site were he was a Moderator, he often came across as condescending and with misinformation. he had a hard time with anyone disagreeing with him on the forums and didn't always handle that well even when he was obviously in the wrong.

he seemed heavy-handed with the ban hammer and even banned or was instrumental in banning Spike555, who was quite helpful on the D1 section of this forum.

i do not miss his online presence but hope it because he moved on or was asked to leave. I hope it is not due to health concerns or worse.
