Maybe I missed it, but I don't think anyone said D1's weren't capable.

well, It seems that if you measure "land rover" purely from a standpoint of off-road worthiness, then maybe that's the think, in stock form, it's probably not up to par with the d90 (in stock form of course), but then as several of you have mentioned, the d90 can't do things that the disco can.. like haul u comfortably, with plenty of amenities. But I guess there will always be the purists and elite, and think Defenders are the only land rover, which, I can understand in a way, since it's the companies face. I'd rather own the disco, put a bit of money into it, to make it capable for the occasional off-road experience, and end up saving 70% over the defender.
