Default disco smarter than me?

I'm trying to replace the head gaskets. I am down the head on the right side. the driver side head came off without much ofa problem. The right side, though, is putting up a fight. The first bolt won't budge, the tranny dipstick also likes to get in the way. So, after a brokern socket, and spending more time pickingup tools that I have dropped, anyone have any advice?

I've gone the way of the 1/2 inch drive on a breaker, but it the rover resists.

I've thought about putting the pneumatic ratchet on it, but I've read bad things about doing that.

any ideas/experiences?

Oh yeah, she is a 99 discoI with the 4.0.

Thanks

You need to use air to remove it.
Almost everyone has trouble with this one. That is the tightest bolt on the whole truck.

I would suggest buying the correct size socket in a impact socket, they won't break. That and a large breaker bar and you should be set.

I'm confident the breaker bar will work on the other bolts. The #1 bolt, however, is a stubborn bolt that will not cooperate, despite the breaker bar.I'llkeep on trying to get it loose with the breaker, and some air.

Thanks Spike and Disco Mike
