Default Disconnected brake line

Just pick up a 2000 disco. The previous owner had for some reason disconnected one of the brake lines from the abs module and capped the abs side. Could this be the cause of the three amigos?

Well that is problem - I suggest you get a Land Rover capable code reader and pull codes, and pull the tire check the caliper pads and rotor on the one that is disconnected my bet is it shot. This is a giant red flag - you may have bought a truck in serious need of a lot of repairs, beyond brakes.

Are we talking brake line or ABS sensor wire? The two are different levels of seriousness.

Sounds like it's the wire, if it is then it's probably just a bad sensor that you can replace.

If it is a brake line, I'd be a lot more worried about driving it around. You'll have to diagnose the caliper and ABS block to see which isn't working/seized

See the attached photo, I don’t have the truck with me right now, but it’s that steel cable that is disconnected. I can see fresh wear on all four discs,

the brakes are very soft and slow to bring the truck to a stop.

The brakes are very soft, but I can see fresh wear on all the discs. The steel line is disconnected and capped, the one labelled right rear

Yeah, I'd get that looked at by a pro. Your soft brakes are from a lack of brakes. Someone may have removed the line if the caliper is stuck.

That is seriously bad - that big block of metal is your ABS modulator. I bet is is you are running on 3 brakes and the right rear is dead, this is better than a front brake but still very bad.

I suggest you check you dash lights when you turn the ignition key on I suspect some are not illuminating that should, the image below will show you what will light when you turn the key on.

To me this is huge warning flag about the rest of truck - replacing a disk brake system is not hugely expensive :
  1. Caliper 140.00
  2. Rotor if shot 120.00
  3. Pads 80.00 (set of 4)
  4. Bleed if you can not get it right 40.00
That is 360.00 Canadian and maybe 2 hours work, rotors can be annoying.

If a guy will not spend call it 400.00 on brakes what else did he not fix, wish luck on this.

Yeah sounds shady for sure, maybe a line is leaking, but replace it vs touch it up at ABS Modulator...
