I forgot to mention, the bottom of this pump is exposed to the road in the Volvo's, and has that thick metal underside for that reason. I'd like to think it'll do ok mounted like I have it, as it's not much different than how it is in the Volvo's, fingers crossed, lol.

I'm in Colorado, I was under the impression that our emissions laws are very similar? I've not had any problems passing emissions with my modified intake here. But I do seem to recall Cali not liking car mods of any kind, even for reasons other than emissions, so maybe you'd have trouble?

Anyway, to answer your question, the pump measures about: 12"Tall x 4.5"wide a 5"wide. Maybe if you moved the washer bottle, it'd fit down there? Although, maybe the Dodge/Chrysler pump would fit better in that position? All I can say, is that either one of those pumps will work, and work well with the Rover steering gear, which was my major question when I embarked on this lil journey. Wasn't sure if it'd even work as I'd seen no-one else try it in a 4x4, just drift cars and hot rods. But, I can say now, that IMO, this works....very well

I’ll find the link and post it here for anyone looking to do the dodge pump as the controller is about $100 making it more inline with the Volvo pump cost wise

edit: link- https://reformmotorsports.com/produc...te-adjustment/ they also have a volvo controller

Ah yes but do volvos get driven like mine do off-road? I doubt it haha. MTs can really chuck some large rocks and would rather not tempt fate. The Dodge pump laying horizontal fits nicely in a D1 or RRC as there is room in front of air box for one since there is technically a second battery tray there or space for one. No such luck in D2s.

Is it feasible to put the Volvo pump in a different location? Maybe the jack area? I'm a little weary of removing the CAI, but I don't know enough about power steering systems to know if relocation is easy or smart.

I'd like to do this mod since my OEM PSP is very squeaky.

Not tryin to be "that guy", but I would have to point out that anytime you do a modification, it is wise to have a working understanding of the system you are modifying... or you risk learning things the hard way (which is simply how all us old dudes learned it all anyway, so....)

That said, yes, you could mount the pump wherever there's room for it, I provided basic pump size measurements already in the thread to help with that. Of course, wiring and supply line lengths will change depending on where you place the pump, but I can't foresee any restrictions or issues there. So, yea, have at it, worse come to worse, you just do the job twice, no biggie... learning things is always worth it, IMO

No worries, that feels like good advice, thank you. I’m starting my process now and shopping for pumps. What exactly did it mount to in your D2? I couldn't tell from the pics or write up.

Check out the last pic in my original post and see the 3 bolt heads protruding thru the metal fender well, then look at the pic above that last one to see where the bolts come thru the fender well and go into the pumps black mounting bracket. There's 3 bolts that mount the bracket to the fender well, and three bolts that mount the pump to the bracket. I made a lil spacer for the bolt furthest to the front (sorry, no pic). Remember, I don't think you need to drop your pump as far into the fender well as I did by opening up the hole to make room for that silver round part of the pump to drop into. So if you don't decide to do that, you'll just use spacers on all three mounting bolts rather than just the front one. It'll make sense when you get all your stuff...

Pro Tip: metal plumbing pipe, or metal barb tubing couplers work great as tall spacers that you can cut to size, and still get a bolt thru
