I've been looking into getting a TLC 80, as I'm starting to grow somewhat tired of the usual disco issues. All of the 80 series TLC's have a CDL, just the late one don't have the switch as the CDL engages when shifting the transfer case to low range. This can be bypassed with a little rewiring and a factory button but you will loose ABS when engaged in HI. Push button locking axles to go with the CDL was an option on the '93 and later cruisers. The '93 and later TLC's also got a better over-head cam engine that made more power and TQ than the '90.5-'92 TLC's.

Some things that are keeping me from making the switch is my '02 D2 has the mounting points for my sons child seat. I have a plug and play AUX input that works with the factory radio. The D2 has a much more refined interior.

Wait till you start dealing with the usual FJ80 issues. I know.

Well, I was able to test drive a 1996 Land Cruiser (with 174,000 miles on it) and a 2001 Land Rover Discovery (with 140,000 miles on it and a recent head gasket change, but it did have the 3 amigo's lit on the dash) and I made the decision on which one I want.

I'm giving up on the idea of either of these and I'm keeping my 1992 Pathfinder!

Im in the same boat...LC vs LR and I know this a crazy old thread, but over 324,000 miles on your 80 series makes me think I should keep my Cruiser.

Does anyone get even close to that on a Disco 2 without a full engine and tranny swap?
