Default Discovery 2 Will Not Start

Hello,
My 2004 Disco II began having intermittent starting issues that lasted for a couple of days and ended in the vehicle not starting at all. When this first occurred there would be no response when the key was turned in the ignition, after a few tries it would start right up. As I said before, after a few days it just stopped responding at all, there was only a faint clicking sound. I checked the battery and it was fine, then I replaced the CPS (crank shaft position sensor) with no change at all. It still just clicked. I let a couple days go by without doing anything as I had to carry on with life as usual, then I tried it again. This time it began to turn over but would not fully start. I removed the alternator and had it tested at 2 different shops to be certain. It passed the tests and I finally reinstalled it. Should I remove the starter and have it tested or does any one out there have any better advice? Thanks in advance.

I would check the wires to the starter first and your ground points for the battery. Make sure the battery post terminals are clean as well,

How is your starter? Get a length of wire and jump the starter from the battery, and of it cranks then your problem lies elsewhere.

Best4x4 recommended a partsplayer to me, and it cranks at -20 like a charm.

I haven’t had this issue in a car, but this sounds EXACTLY like an issue I had in my old Ninja 500. I’m fairly certain your starter solenoid has gone bad. The fact that you already ruled out the battery is making me lean toward this direction. I hope this helps!

I would look at the ignition switch.
