Discovery running rough after beach trip
Was stupid and drove towards the water. Got hit by a large wave. Pretty sure I got a few things wet that I shouldn't have. Vehicle warms up and runs fine but I'm getting a very rough idle and it quits when cold unless in neutral. I've always been super careful with water until this move. What do I need to do to correct it? Thanks.
Hmm, any check engine lights?
The intake is near the driver's side tire / wheel (for left hand drive models). Was the wave near there?
I would just follow the intake path and make sure everything is good:
Start with air filter, make sure that is not wet or that you have water in the airbox. Then replace or clean the MAF. It could have got water on it. I would say it is probably one of these things. I doubt you sucked up water all the way into the cylinders. Could be a shorted sensor, bad ground, or something else entirely.

Thanks. I will start with the air filter. Wave hit on the right side. Check engine light is on but was on before that. It's really struggling with starting. What you are suggesting makes sense. I will give it a try.
Based on my experience, the problems will clear up once everything has a chance to dry out fully. And, also based on my experience, it's likely that water got into the connectors for the upstream O2 connectors. You might try disconnecting them to speed them drying out.
I've got my D2 really wet a few times.
Check the air box for water. If it's wet the MAF is likely wet too. Also check the inlet tubing after the air box. There is a resonater pod deal on lower side that can fill with water. Mine has.
Reading the engine codes is a good starting place before tossing parts and work at it.
