Do an oil pressure test first. Cheap insurance if the break in wasn't the issue.

I've used high revving, high performance Kent and Piper cams a lot and you must follow in detail the breaking in procedure as it will scuff out both the camshaft and the followers very rapidly.

Got her all tore apart and sparkling clean. Waiting on the new parts to start coming in to begin reassembling - and do a proper break in. Second time should be the charm...
