Default Do I have to remove shock towers

When replacing the front shocks and springs? Watched a couple of videos on it and they removed the tower but they were replacing it with a new one. Looks like I should be able to unbolt the shock at the top and pull it through the bottom when I remove the springs. I'm doing the OME 2 inch lift if that matters.

No... you only need to remove them if you're replacing them.

you do not NEED to, but you may find it easier in the end. It can be difficult enough to replace the springs but now you are trying to do this while fumbling with a shock in the middle. just hit the bolts with PB blaster a day before and pull the towers.

Yes they have to be removed, no big deal, takes less then 10 minutes a side.

I just did this two weekends ago. They don't NEED to be removed but you'll be much happier if you do. I thought I'd save time by not removing the first one...big mistake. Trying to wrangle the spring out and angle a loose shock just right was a royal pain. When I moved to the other side I hit the four bolts holding the tower in with PB Blaster and released the tower. That side took half the time to finish than the side I left it in.

While I agree they aren't a big deal and should be removed, they don't necessarily "need" to.

I just did this as well. I first thought I would not need to remove the shock tower as I did not want to finesse it out of the engine bay around a few items. It quickly dawned on me that I would have to slide the spring all the way up the shock if I left it in. SO, you can either "finesse" the shock tower out or "finesse" the spring in around the long shock. I chose moving the shock tower as I was not sure if I could get enough angle in moving the shock to the left or right to get the spring around the shock and in to position.

I would say most people would remove the tower, but if it works for you the other way, cool!

All installed. Which fuse do I have to pull so the old system doesn't drain my battery. I know its one of the 30s in the engine compartment but I think there are 4. I have no lights on the dash but my car wouldn't start this morning because of a dead battery.
