Does anyone have trouble seeing their reverse lights?
I can barely see my reverse lights at night. It's so bad that I have to open my door to turn around and look. Now, I'm sure that has something to do with the tinted lights and ~10% tinted Windows, but it's still a pain. I was thinking of retrofitting some HIDs or something. I have two sets up front for both high and low beams and I figure, other than waterproofing, it shouldn't be too hard to do the same for the reverse lights. I have an extra H7 kit that I think would work well. Thoughts? Concerns? Tips or tricks?
Why not just remove the tent from the reverse light? I used to live next to a guy that had his taillights spray tinted on his Avalanche and he complained about not being able to see with his reverse lights. He finally cleaned the tint off and taped over the reverse lens and re sprayed them. He could see with 5% tint afterward. Plus the lights looked much nicer after he actually put some time into them.
Because I like the whole bumper being black. And it isn't quite that simple, since I used the spray on stuff that is essentially a translucent black clear coat. Even without it I had problems. Either way I would've had to do something, it only made my need more... Needy.
Add into the circuit a couple of round HID LED daylight running lights into the bumper (about 20mm dia O/A and 10mm holes needed) and you'll be amazed how they augment the light output. These are as 'cheap as chips', $3 to $4 a pair from China, and simple to fit.
Well, tinting the light and windows will have that effect. Seems expected.
You're going to need either many more tinted lights(to make up for their reduced output), or mount a normal light back there for the output you need to overcome the inky combination of your window tint and dark of night.

Do you not think retrofitting this HID kit would do the trick? I've got a couple extra off road lights too, but I'd really rather not drill into my bumper and run the cables.
