Where under the truck did you find it - on the ground? Can you be a little more specific?

That is a seal for the transmission. Slide under your truck and look at your transmission. Towards the front of the tranny, towards the top you will see a big hole where that goes. Just push it back in.

Clean it off good first, check for tears in the rubber, if torn, buy a new one so it won't come off and get lost.

O.k., sorry for the long delay in my reply. I finally finished that dang turkey and ham. Ha ha

Iskinnied under the truck and I swear I can't find where that seal belongs. There's a lot going on down there and not much room to reach anything.

Can you clue me in a little more where it's supposed to go? I guess first of all I need to go buy a new one.The rubber is torn as Mike had guessed. This is nota rover dealership-only part is it?

I don't see it as a tranny seal.

It is on the rear of the oil pan. one on each side, where the pan meets the flywheel cover. the oil pan kinda has two flanges on each side that bolt up next to the flywheel the holes are on that flange. you can remove the rubber seals and see the teeth on the flywheel. if i had the rave cd here at work i would attach a picture, sorry.

looking at the usual part sites, im getting the feeling its a dealer part.

*edit* attached picture. holes on vertical "flange"
