Default Does the oil dipstick need sealant?

Ya ya, perhaps one of the dumber questions asked here - I was reinstalling the dipstick the other day and it just struck me as interesting that it's simply a friction fit (aside from the one screw holding it in place). Is there much pressure in the oil sump that would cause some kind of leak via the dipstick? Most dipsticks I've worked with have at least a rubber o-ring where it mates to the engine.

if you build up enough pressure to blow oil out of the dip stick, I would think you would have a serious engine problem,
