Default Door actuator

The rear passenger door will not open. Making the removal of the actuator more challenging.
The door lock goes up and down with the switch.
The cable appears to move something, and is not disconnected.

I took this picture of the internals, nothing appears out of order. What am i missing? I feel like mechanically, it should open regardless of the actuator. As i look more closely at a video I made, you can see the cable end moving something inside the actuator. Even if that is broken, the external handle should be able to open the door?

How would I get the door open to better diagnose this issue? There are videos for front doors, but the rears appear markedly different.

Thanks in advance.

The small metal rod is what the outer handle actuates.

if I were you I would have a helper pull on the handle on the outside while you use a longish pry bar to try and push that linkage system around, up down, etc until it open.

I’ve never seen one fail where the mechanical aspect did not work.

Mine failed shut, and the door would not open, no matter what was done. Eventually I had to take the bolts off the hinge for the back door (accessible with front door open). That gave me enough room to slip a hack saw blade in (partially wrapped in leather to avoid paint damage) and cut the silver U thing that the latch latches to. It took almost 3 hours to cut through, and make sure someone else is holding the door so it does not fall when you cut through. Time consuming but it worked.

Wow! I would try my suggestion/ exhaust all possibilities before going to that, what a nightmare.

That does sound insane. It looks like the brass mechanism need to push up to open the door? or what is pushed down? I have tried about everything with my hand, and if i can see inside, i am hoping use a more targeted effort to get it open.

Assuming, i get it open. Is it accurate that my issue is the acctuator?

Thanks
