Default door jamb rust repair

my 96 has the classic rust situation brewing on the driver's side passenger door jamb. it's rusted all the way through at the top, and starting to get nasty at the bottom as well.

it's at the specialist right now getting that entire section of the door jamb replaced, apparently they had it in stock. they're going to install it and repaint it Alpine White (to match the rest of the truck) for $680. is that a decent price?

I dont know. I'm going to just use Bondo on mine and then paint it myself with a spray can. Its not like it needs to match perfectly or anything.

that's exactly what i did... worked great for an entire day, then came apart. im pretty sure most of that was b/c i suck tho.

my advice:do THIN layers, very thin. (that's what they recommend, but i guess i misinterpreted)

I used fiberglass and it is holding up pretty well. Just make sure you get it on both sides of the hole. Mine developed a hole about the size of a dime, same spot.
