Default Door locks?

I was wondering if anyone could give some input about my door locks? I purchased this 99 Series II about amonth ago. When I bought it all the doors operated normal w/ remote key and central control lock. However, One by on they are ceasing to work. First the passenger side front, then the tail gate, then the driver side door. Can someone please tell me what is going on? Is it just getting old and the acuators need replaced or is there something else I can try?

Thanks,

Wm

Also might want to access the door lock assy itself and clean the everything out, lube with graphite/silicon(not WD40), then see how they work. It doesn't take much to make them stick. Try that before buying new actuators.

Thanks for the info folks. I am going to try cleaning and lubricating first. Any pointers on how to effectively accomplish this successfully.

If you use the dash switch to try and lock and unlock the doors, what happens, do the lock buttons try to move or just sit there? If you click on the remote a couple of times will the locks eventially work?

Well, one of them wiggles a little and eventually come up. The other do nothing. As for the main control or the remote nothing. They used to at least lock with the remote, but now one of them doesn't even lock. I am getting down to only having the right rear door working properly. The driver side door will only work with the key, the passenger nothing, the gate will lock but not unlock. This is getting frustrating.

Sounds like it is time to test and replace the remotes as necessary.
Here is a good site for good guaranteed used switches, http://www.roverlandparts.com/index....S&Category=296

Hi

I have a 1998 Disovery, the rear door will not open, when trying to open it from the outside it feels as if the handle does not go up far enough to engage the clasp? I guess the way I would describe it is that it is spongy, & when trying to open the door from inside nothing happens?
Please help as we have a small child & we need access to the rear for strollers & bags.
Thanks

Sounds like you too have a bad lock actuator, They are pretty easy to replace if you are at all mechanical.
