flashing lights and clicking door locks - LR3
I posted this on the new members forum, but perhaps this is a better location. I have a brand new LR3. It's approx. 5 weeks old. On two different occasions, the lights have started flashing and the door locks start clicking (all at the same time) for no apparent reason. It happens when the key is NOT in the ignition. When I put the key in and start the car, the problem goes away and the car drives fine. It is not an alarm. The first time I brought the car into the service department, they thought it was a computer glitch, but then changed the diagnosis to a faulty ground wire. The problem was supposedly corrected, but returned two days later. Any suggestions? Anyone having a similar problem?
In my opinion, with a 5 week old LR3 with this kind of problem, your course of action should be to continue to demand satisfaction from the dealer. Let it be known you are documenting the number of service appointments necessary to correct the problem. Stick with a single service representitive so they'll know you and the problem if it persisits. Good luck.
Thank you for your reply. The service department called today to tell me they have no idea what the problem is. They've got a specialist coming in tomorrow to look at my car and another with an similar problem.
Before the truck is delivered there are a few events that happen, out of transport mode is one of them. Its hooked to wds (testbook II ) british have difficulties with software theres a new disc avalible I think version 24 comes with new hand held software too in case i am wrong about the number. Reset the truck to transport, remove any history of the vehicle from test book (wds) then reprogram it with the new disc, also make sure (if you have lojack the idiots connected the ground to the piece beneath the front dome light)
Have them look at and check or replace the security ECU. By the symptoms, it could be related to the security system. Using the key in the driver door or buttons on the key fob will tell the ECU to reset itself and the problem will go away until you least expect it.
The problem turned out to be a pinch in a drain tube responsible for moving water away from the sun roof and down through the kick plate. The pinch caused the water to make contact with a sensor which made the computer go haywire. At least that's what they told us. Fortunately, we got a bunch of free stuff from LR because they had the car for 3 whole weeks trying to figure out this problem. Thank you for your replies.
