Drain Coolant from Water Pump Bolt?

Default Drain Coolant from Water Pump Bolt?
In he AB head gasket video, he drains the coolant from a bolt in the water pump.

Anyone try this method? Would it affect the seal of the water pump? Sealant on reinstall? Should I stick to the lower hose?

It’ll drain the intake manifold of coolant, but the lower radiator hose will allow more to drain out as it’s lower than the water pump.

What is the wisdom of pulling the bolt, and sticking the old wet dry vac on the coolant bottle and blowing it all out? Do you think there could be any detrimental affect to the pump from pulling that bolt?

It might seep afterwards as that bolt goes all the way into the water jacket.

I took the leap, so we'll see. I'll put some high temp thread sealant on when it goes back in.

There's a threaded plug on each side of the block for draining coolant too.
Square head, next to knock sensors.

Shop vac always does the trick for me. Suck it out or do like Spaceballs & go from suck to blow lol.
