Default The dreaded dash peel

Anyone have good solutions? I've seen a Britpart screw-down kit, but it's for D1s, which seem to have this problem more often. I've had a bit of dash peel ever since a shop took apart the dash a few years back. Feeling around, it seems like there's a solid surface underneath that I could theoretically glue down to. Ideas?

I bought a kit this past summer which screwed into the dash and looks really good( versus the waves in my dash). I cannot remember where I got it from, I think it was BPU. It takes some work, but I am please with the results. There was a thread from another member who used ACRAGLAS. This is an epoxy used in gunsmithing.

Thanks for the tips. I'm more inclined to glue or screw it down than cover it up. Is it easy to pull the dash out away from the window to work on it? It seems it'd be a ton easier to glue in place and clamp if that's the case. I'm not really sure how exactly it's constructed.

The kit I bought ( British Parts of Utah I or Rovers North I think) came with long screws about 1 3/4". Most of the were pretty easy to install. They seemed to find a "shelf" or something to bite into. The toughest ones were the ones on each end, and the ones between the top of the instrument cluster and the windshield. The end result looks like it was there from the day it rolled out of the factory.
If I remember correctly, the gluing fix required putting the epoxy between the shelf and the underside of the dash, followed by putting downward pressure from a series of dowels that ran up from a 2x4 to the headliner where another 2x4 was.

This is a link to Miami British, just one of the suppliers of the repair kit LAND ROVER DASHBOARD REPAIR KIT BLACK DISCOVERY 1 GDK001 ALLMAKES4x4 | Miami British Corp.. Having fitted one to my old D2 a number of year ago I can tell you, it's a great kit and when fitted looks brilliant. It's not the easiest kit to fit, as the screws are awkward to get at, but it is doable. IIRC the instructions recommend heating the screws a little so they go into the plastic of the dash more easily.

The ones I've seen are Britpart but are made for D1s -- nothing available for D2 as far as I can tell, but they might fit: Dash Trim Kits

D1/D2 dashes are the same, minus the color. The D1 kit will work on a D2. I've actually seen more D2 with black dashes peel than I've ever seen brown D1/D2 dashes peel here in TX.

I too have that peeling ever since they put the replacement a/c/heater blower in a while back and I also am hungrily eyeballing the British parts - Utah screw-down solution. When i get the last couple mechanical tidbits resolved, i'll be able to spend on cosmetics like this and make it look sharp like it should. Glad to hear others have had good results!
