Default Dreaded and mysterious p1884... :(

CEL on.
Snap-on Verus scantool can't find a code on official scanner side "no codes present or pending".
I tried the generic OBD II software of the scan tool and pulled a P1884 code.

I hit this forum and searched the threads for P1884 and read lots but nothing that's giving me answers.
No drivability issues other than the annoying CEL that won't clear (code resets immediately).
Most suspected the MAF.
MAF values are 9g/s at idle which is high compared to the 4-5g/s stated as normal in said threads.
So suspect MAF but thought I should check the voltage readings first.
I then did a MAF output voltage test and found it to be within range. Measured 1.4V at idle (650rpms) with 1.3-1.5V as the norm.

Thoughts?

Code vanished as soon as I moved the shifter from Park.
Not sure what happened but the CEL is out and the code is not showing, even in the pending zone.

Happy it's gone and the lights out, sad that I have nothing to claim as a fix.

There are at least 8 (or 9 depending on how you read the manual) sub-codes that go with P1884. Can the snap-on scanner read talk to the transmission computer?
