Default Drive shaft fix

I keep seeing "rebuild your drive shaft" , but i never see fix the main issue that causes the drives shaft to fail.. #1... air conditioning drain draining on drive shaft. When they replaced my engine they re plumed mine so it does not drain on the shaft anymore. I will see if i can get pick or a writeup on how they do it at my rover shop.

Thanks Chris

While that is one issue, the lack of ability to grease frequently is also a big player.

It's the bigger player, not greasing them, that is.

This thread gives me an idea- build a quarter-round shield to cover the t-case end if the front d/s. Protect it from a/c drip and converter heat. But it would leave enough open to be able to grease it.

Won't work, the u-joints will still fail when not being lubricated , just from their own internally generated heat.

now get your plumbing rerouted so it does not drain on it...solve part of the problem...

I think that would make the drive shaft last longer, protecting it from the heat of the cat and the water from the a/c and if it was strong enough if it broke it would prevent the driveshaft from destroying the trans.
Sure you would still need a new driveshaft, but at considerable less cost than that AND a transmission.

Didn't we already have a recent post from someone who actually builds protection loops? See https://landroverforums.com/forum/mo...riveshaft+loop
