That was my reaction too. On the other hand the volume for this shaft is not large enough for multiple manufacturers to compete - Just my thought.

I think I will be better off to rebuild mine locally with warranty and the quality.

Thanks

That should make them more expensive, not less expensive.

Driveshafts - Landrover Discovery II TD5 Front - Driveshaft Parts

Thanks
I think it's not the correct part number for a V8. I'm not sure what the difference is, but I assuming is the length. Even on the V8, the 4.0 and 4.6 engines use a different set of propshafts because the 4.6L uses a transmission that is longer. (though everyone says it doesn't make much difference and you can use either v8 front shaft on either V8.... I have no opinion)

Default $499.00 for rebuilt shaft in nashville

I had new u-joints put in my '02 DII four years ago and got the same shudder as before in September. Went to Autohaus in Nashville - good guys and honest if you're ever here and need assistance. We have a local drive shaft shop who does so many LR DII shafts that they keep one or two in stock all the time. Supposedly "better" than OEM - Autohaus says they have customers with +150,000 miles on them without fail. Got out the door the same day for $602.50 with labor and taxes. Paid a bit for the repair but I have confidence it was done right.

I have to go to the next step now. The driving does "feel" better but now, there is a whining when the truck is driving up a hill. Going for another test drive this afternoon. I wish I was closer to a larger town or city. I have to drive around 1600 miles in about two weeks for a business trip. I also noticed a "shudder" when it changed gears. Geez, it is now probably my transmission. Just for the record, this was my son's LR and he did not really do anything to keep it up. Now, I get to do everything!! The mechanic is going to take the list of tune up items and we are going to start down the list and accomplished as much as we can in a timely and least expensive manner until the LR is in as good a condition as possible. This will probably take 3 or 4 months.

If no history of fluid change, might be time for automatic transmission fluid and filter, plus change fluid in each differential and the transfer case. On older units some owners go with a 85W140 synthetic gear oil, and report quieting.
