Driver door strap broken?

Driver door strap broken?
Well, not exactly broken but the bit that seems fixed to the door pillar on the passenger side, kinda floats about on the driver side. As you open the door, it goes 'crack' and when you shut the door..again 'crack'. Is something easily fixable ? By me ? Or is it megabucks in the shop?
TIA

I just don't worry about it.

It's all replaceable or repairable. Not sure about how difficult. The design has changed over the years. My 99 looks different than my 2003. I'll have to take some pictures, because I don't remember exactly what was different.

Fixable you need to find a decent welder. Spot welding does not hold up and the metal behind is soft so if you cut a small plate to put between the door jamb and the hinge weld plate to door jamb and hinge to plate good weld only have to do it once. Hope that helps! Lots of disco's have this happen to them.

Mine goes crack every time I open my driver door. Friggin annoying. I pulled the door panel removed and replaced the hinge w/ one I got from a parts truck. Guess what!? It was worse than before.
Im sure someone sells the hinge. I didnt notice any damage to the mounting plate. Its gotta be the hinge.

Like i said I bet the majority of us have seen this or have had it ourselves but seriously look into what i am saying and it will make sense to you. Its not the hinge in "most" cases its the factory spot weld where the hinge meets the jamb. Coors i have seen them how your describing it too.
