Default Driver Side Door Lock

The driver side door lock just turns and turns - doesnt unlock or lock the door. Any quick repair for this or new lock? I'm worried if my remote goes out, I wont be able to get into the truck at all (without the help of a brick).

Umm from my experience, don't put the remote in the laundry!

a very common problem with the DII is a pin that attaches to the rear of the key tumbler. It is about the size of a 16 penny nail, with a cross on the head. It is made of pot metal and is very prone to breakage. You can try to find one at a wrecking yard or order an entire door handle assembly from Land Rover. Nice thing about the new handle is that you get a new, made to order key with it. The dealer will charge around $170 plus tax for the part. I found the pin at a wrecking yard and paid $20 as I recall. You can't order just the pin......It is a fairly easy fix, takes about an hour. Best to buy a door trim removal tool. I did a write up about it a couple of months ago. It was not an easy part to find at the wrecking yard. I probably went to 8 different yards and only found one part in working order. The bummer is that the only keyed door is the driver door, if it fails you are sol. All the best. Phil

Does this also apply to a DI?

different set up on a DI, both front doors take a key, as well as the rear cargo door. I think that the DI also has a different internal mechanism that doesn't use the "nail" with a cross type set up. Phil
