Default Driver window wont go up

02 disco. Window wont come back up at all after being put all the way down. When i press the up/down switch I can hear a motor working or something but nothing coming back up. All other windows work fine. Any help or guidance on taking apart the door cover and fixing this issue would be appreciated. ( I just got my disco out of the shop after $900 worth of repairs and am loosing my cool)

Happy Holidays!

You need a new window regulator, do a search, tons of posts on this.
In the mean time remove the door panel, push up the window and shove a block of wood in there to hold it up.

Wow. This is the first time I have ever been mentioned as having helped someone out. I feel like a million bucks!!!

Here's another cool thing that happened here. I went to ebay and found the front drivers side regulator listed with a "buy it now" price of 60 bucks. BUT it also said "Make an offer". Because my window was still kind of working (and because I am still kind of broke) I offered 40 bucks. They accepted.

The regulator came quickly and well packaged and WITH the motor. I was blown away because these are 125 bucks at Roverland parts WITHOUT the motor. So I fixed my window for 40 bucks and now have a motor to sell that go for more than 40 bucks on ebay a lot of the time. I got paided to fix my Rover!

The guy has other stuff to. Here is a link to his store on Ebay...just please don't buy the stuff I'm going to need in the future haha. http://stores.ebay.com/Bill-Smith-Auto-Parts

Update on window problem. I got the door panel off and found broken glass on the top rail and in the pocket along the bottom of the door. Good news:not my glass / Bad news: whoever replaced the glass last did a half *** job. The plastic vapor guard was missing and several of the blue plastic rivets were already broken and missing. The crescent with teeth part of my regulator was found in the bottom pocket of the door. I unbolted the motor and regulator and fished it out of the door. I pulled the glass up and have it secured with duct tape and cardboard. I drove my disco thru the carwash to get all the road salt off from the recent snow, the window was all the way up, but water was leaking into the door it seemed like thru the rubber seal against the window on the outside of the truck. When I checked the seal from the outside it seemed air tight so im not sure how the water leaked in.

Couple of questions.
1. Do I need a new regulator or can I just bolt the crescent piece back onto the regulator?
2. Should I replace the plastic vapor guard?
3.Any ideas on why water is leaking in when nothing on the exterior part of the truck has changed? Or was this happening all along and I just didnt know?

Thank You

So is the water coming into the cabin or the inside of the door?
If you can rebuild the regulator then go for it.

The water comes inside the door, it only comes into the cabin because I still have the interior trim panel off. Looks like the rubber window seal on the outside is tight though. Couldn't believe the shoddy job of the previous window repair. Plastic guard appears to be ripped off and I guess the repaired couldnt bother to brush off the loose glass. Window is a genuine LR part so im guessing done at dealership. yikes
